- Undiagnosed ticsIn Tourette's Discussion·19 December 2023So my parents noticed my tics when I was around 6 or 7 years old. They were small movements and sounds, nothing that really has a big effect on me. They knew what it was because my dad is diagnosed with tourette syndrome. When I was 13 or 14 they started to get worse and more noticable and I began to push for a diagnosis. We consulted with my gp and I was referred to a behavioral specialist but then we never followed up with it. I'm 17 now and have been trying to figure out a way to explain my tics to people at school and teachers and stuff but I get so embarrassed and I don't know what I can or can't say without a diagnosis. I feel like I've just been faking this for like ten years. Any advice would be great 😂49217

- Chronic Mental IllnessIn Neurodivergent Corner!·9 January 2024Hi, my name's Luci. I'm 15, and I have been struggling with mental illness for years. I was first diagnosed with anxiety when I was eight, and since I have been diagnosed with depression and major depressive disorder, and I struggle with chronic suicidal ideation. In the last year my diagnosis was changed to Schizoaffective Disorder (bipolar type). I also have ADHD, and recently I have been looking to get an autism screening. Haha, I know it's a lot. My main question is, is their anyone else here who struggles with some of this, who has any general advice on life, emotion/overstimulation regulation, trauma processing, or tips for school?46129
- Possible POTS questionsIn Chronic Illness Club·2 December 2023Hi! My name is GloriousPurpose! So I've been learning more about POTS and I've been thinking maybe I should look into going to the doctor about it. (Also how do I go about doing that?) I've been having dizzy spells since I was a little kid, I lose my eyesight, my whole body gets really heavy, I'm really dizzy and swaying, I get a pounding headache, and sometimes I collapse. I've never fainted though, and there not always that bad. I also bruise really easily, am super pale, get nose bleeds incredibly easy and for long periods of time, sometimes my feet swell too, I'm always cold and I have hand tremors (though I don't know if those are a symptom of POTS). But we think I'm anemic and I know I'm super dehydrated so it might just be that. People with POTS and other types of Dysautonomia, what do you think?114297

- Multiple ND conditions+?In Chronic Illness Club·1 December 2023Hi all! I'm Autistic, with ADHD, Depression, Anxiety AND C-PTSD. I'm wondering how y'all manage to function day to day? How do you manage to not overextend/over exert yourself?! 🥴 I decided I was going to string Christmas lights outside yesterday after my maintenance massage (my other chronic physical stuff thanks me for it!) buuuut then got into a mild fender bender with a really rude lady-using that term rather loosely! Then today I wanted to build my new bedframe. I will now be spending the rest of the weekend recuperating and I get frustrated because I just don't know how to pace myself. 🙃 Also, I'm always on the hunt for the next best fidget toy, people's favorite sensory support tools/devices. I look forward to the open discussions that will happen here. MANY thanks to Zara for setting this up!! I really love some of the earrings you've been selling, look forward to snagging some other ones next release, as I could only grab one pair by the time I saw her post. Very excited she's got soooo much traction already! ❤️44158
- ShoppingIn Neurodivergent Corner!12 December 2023I always wear some kind of noise cancelling headphones/ loop earplugs to reduce the noise. As for the lights, it may sound stupid but I sometimes wear sunglasses where there is flourescent lights. What I've come to realise is that people may look, but in less than 5 minutes they will have forgotten about my existence so that brings me some kind of comfort. I also wear comfy clothes and shoes and bring some fidgets and my sunflower lanyard (especially if it is a bad day with tics for me). Make sure to take lots of sit down breaks to just zone out on your phone or reading a book too! :)51
