- Autism and ADHD know whatIn Neurodivergent Corner!·4 May 2025Hey everyone, I’m 13 and I was recently diagnosed with both autism and ADHD. I found out last week, and I’ve been trying to process it ever since. I guess part of me feels relieved because a lot of things about me finally make sense—like why I get overwhelmed so easily, why I have a hard time focusing unless it’s something I really enjoy, and why I’ve always felt kind of different from everyone else. At the same time, I’m also confused and a little nervous. What does this actually mean for me? Will people start treating me differently? Should I tell my friends? I don’t want to be looked at like I’m “less than” or like there’s something wrong with me—because I don’t feel broken. Just different. My parents say this diagnosis can help me get more support, especially at school, and that it doesn’t change who I am. I believe them, but it’s still a lot to take in. I was wondering if anyone else here has gone through something similar—getting diagnosed as a teen or even younger—and if you have any advice or things that helped you understand yourself better. I’d really appreciate hearing from someone who gets it. Thanks for reading. 🙂 – Isla ⭐️💗2982

- Special InterestsIn Neurodivergent Corner!·5 December 2023Hey! What are your special interests or hyperfixations?! Feel free to info dump! I may not respond to everything because it gets really overwhelming, but I will try! My main special interest is Psychology/ disabilities with a focus on autism, but pretty much anything medical or science related, especially space as well. A recent one that's been pretty big is Quinni from Heartbreak High. M(http://High.My)y (http://High.My)special interests that come and go a bit more are, Wednesday, Sherlock, the Grishaverse, Marvel, Harry Potter, Newsies, Six The Musical, and maybe Percy Jackson. (Though those lean more to fandoms I'm literally insanely obsessed with to the point of a Special Interest, and they might get replaced with a new one but come back later full force.)255492
- ZaraBeth appreciation and thank you postIn General Discussion·5 December 2023Hey! I hope this isn't weird! I just wanted to create a post to thank Zara for all she's doing for the disability community. Thank you for creating this website as a place where we can safely ask questions and find community, when I was going through a hard time online friends were some of my closest friends, and I will never forget how much that meant to me. I hope this forum does the same for other people. Thank you for your YouTube channel and all the awareness you bring, and the joy that you spread. You're one of my favorite YouTubers. I've learned so much. It's helped me learn to accommodate myself and learn to take care of myself. And it's brought comfort on days when I wasn't doing too great. You're an awesome person, continue to be yourself and take care of yourself, and know that your fans are supportive of you doing that. I hope that you know that you have people who believe in you, even if you've never met them before. And thank you to all the moderators and people who have made this happen! Best wishes to you! Again I hope you don't find this weird, and if you do then I will be happy to take it down! And if anyone else wants to post their appreciation for Zara, or just thank someone who's made an impact in their life, this is the place to do it! Positive vibes only!911102
- ADHD IN SCHOOLIn Neurodivergent Corner!·12 December 2023I Have ADHD and anxiety! This is for anyone who wants some tips for these! For anxiety, I have panic attacks and what really helps me is counting back from 100 by three. But before I can say another number, I have to take a deep breath. It helps my breathing slow and it helps calm my mind and body. For ADHD (any types), what I like to do is fidget with something, like always bring a fidget especially in crowded/social spaces. Hope this helps!❤️107192
- Apple juice and autismIn General Discussion·14 April 2025apple juice and autism?? just wondering hey so this might sound kind of random but i saw something online about apple juice maybe being linked to autism, like because of sugar or stuff like metals (like arsenic?) that could be in juice. i’m not saying it’s true or anything, i just got curious and wanted to ask if anyone else has looked into it or thought about it. i’m autistic and i drink a lot of apple juice, it’s one of the few things i actually like drinking. but now i’m wondering if it could be messing with anything like mood, energy, focus, or just stuff in general. has anyone here ever noticed anything different when drinking apple juice or cutting it out? and do diets actually help with sensory stuff or focus or anything? or is that mostly something parents just try? i’m not trying to make a big deal out of it, just curious and wanted to hear what other people think. thanks for reading!1649

- POTS Chat!!In Chronic Illness Club1 December 2023HEY! fellow dysautonomia pal here (though you probably know that 😂) my biggest tips for day to day coping 👇🏻 * compression socks for blood pooling * increasing salt and water intake (electrolytes!) * standing slowly and reducing quick changes in posture * rest and recovery time is important <3 * then reducing stress and validating yourself because that isn't talked about enough, your mental health directly impacts your physical health and symptoms so make sure to keep that topped up too ✨112
