- Autism and ADHD know whatIn Neurodivergent Corner!Ā·4 May 2025Hey everyone, Iām 13 and I was recently diagnosed with both autism and ADHD. I found out last week, and Iāve been trying to process it ever since. I guess part of me feels relieved because a lot of things about me finally make senseālike why I get overwhelmed so easily, why I have a hard time focusing unless itās something I really enjoy, and why Iāve always felt kind of different from everyone else. At the same time, Iām also confused and a little nervous. What does this actually mean for me? Will people start treating me differently? Should I tell my friends? I donāt want to be looked at like Iām āless thanā or like thereās something wrong with meābecause I donāt feel broken. Just different. My parents say this diagnosis can help me get more support, especially at school, and that it doesnāt change who I am. I believe them, but itās still a lot to take in. I was wondering if anyone else here has gone through something similarāgetting diagnosed as a teen or even youngerāand if you have any advice or things that helped you understand yourself better. Iād really appreciate hearing from someone who gets it. Thanks for reading. š ā Isla āļøš2979

- Apple juice and autismIn General DiscussionĀ·14 April 2025apple juice and autism?? just wondering hey so this might sound kind of random but i saw something online about apple juice maybe being linked to autism, like because of sugar or stuff like metals (like arsenic?) that could be in juice. iām not saying itās true or anything, i just got curious and wanted to ask if anyone else has looked into it or thought about it. iām autistic and i drink a lot of apple juice, itās one of the few things i actually like drinking. but now iām wondering if it could be messing with anything like mood, energy, focus, or just stuff in general. has anyone here ever noticed anything different when drinking apple juice or cutting it out? and do diets actually help with sensory stuff or focus or anything? or is that mostly something parents just try? iām not trying to make a big deal out of it, just curious and wanted to hear what other people think. thanks for reading!1643

- Completly lost after my diagnosisIn Neurodivergent Corner!Ā·20 March 2025I am completly lost, I got diagnosed with autism and adhd a month ago (I am 18) but the adhd part seems weird to me. I have the impression that the person who diagnosed me has amplify what I said and write, even if I relate to some point of auDHD. I don't have the impression to be as much struggling than "real" people with adhd. Especially that I don't have hyperfixasion or things like that (I don't know). So I don't know if i really have adhd or not. It's like a big big big imposter syndrome I have the impression to not be legitimate to say that I have adhd because I donāt struggle that much, I am not hyperactive, I can be organised thank to my autism, and I have the impression that other people are sometimes way more innatantive than me. (I am french so I am sorry if there are mistakes)1773
- how do i unmask??In Neurodivergent Corner!17 March 2025I'm exactly the same! I don't know what I'm actually like. People view me as loud and weird while i think I'm quiet underneath. What I do to try and figure out is when I'm alone, I talk to myself and find out which version feels normal. I also use fidgets to stim subtly to find out what suits me. I'm currently in year 9 and understand completely11

- Am I ticcing? And how to explain themIn Tourette's DiscussionĀ·10 March 2025So I found zaras account a while back in I think October 2024 and I started to notice that after I had watched her videos, I started to do stuff. I have no idea how to explain it but my head goes forward and I stretch my neck. Its very odd. I only did it alone but then I started to get the urge to do it more. I then noticed other things I did. My head jerks to the side and I feel the urge to hit my legs. When I'm alone I get them more like squeaking( I have guinea pigs) and making high pitched noises. Some things stop them like music and I can kind of control them round other people but the urge is taking over me and its too hard to control them. I know I've commented on other posts and said I have them but I'm starting to question that. Thanks1363
- are loop earplugs worth it?In General DiscussionĀ·6 March 2025I have noise sensitivity and I need noise canceling headphones for day to day life. I am probably going to get loops but I don't know if they are good or not.šø1953
- are loop earplugs worth it?In General Discussion7 March 2025I wear mine every day and they've really helped. I wear them in the canteen because if you're from the UK and in secondary you'll understand(lol). If the projectors loud then I wear them so I can concentrate more on my work and it actually helps! They are normally quite expensive but I think my mum got mine off amazon and got my sister some knock off ones that do exactly the same. I would discuss getting them with whomever you trust or live with and see if they can help and support you. Hope this helps!12
